Get a good dog shampoo and are you blow drying the dog after a bath because that tends to make them stink if you let them air dry.
Oh by the way how is the dog anyway? Older dog usually smell bad no matter what you do.
greenies for the breath and dental health, they are great, and petsmart has a great spray for dogs.
Bad teeth and gum disease cause bad breath. See your vet. If your dog smells bad after a bath, try a deodorizing shampoo for dogs.
Brush his teeth every day with doggy toothbrushes and toothpastes!
a lot of things depend on age, breed, etc. but i would suggest if the breath is too bad to see the vet. it could be internal, or maybe just needs a good teeth scaling and some daily toothbrushing/denta chews each day afterwards.
as for the coat smelling, without actually knowing anything about the dog. definetely a good bath. some breeds/older dogs tend to just stink…but a good, regular bath and blow dry help. oatmeal shampoos are great for the skin to deal with flaking and such. i adopted one of my dogs and she had a terrible coat. we supplemented cod liver oil in her meals for a year or so…which we should still be doing, but dont…anyway, that gives the coat a nice luster (over time, not instantly) and improves the skin as well…which good skin in coat = less stinky dog. you can also buy dog colognes for maintaining a good smell between baths…
Most people do not know that dog bad breath and humans bad breath is caused by the bacteria that grow on the top of the tongue. So to cure (not just cover up) the bad breath you need to clean the top of the tongue. Mints, gum, mouthwash, etc., just cover up the bad breath for a short time. Clean the top of the tongue with a tongue cleaner that has both a brush and a scraper. Learn more at:
